Where Regulation Meets Pricing: Biomethane Market Seminar London
The European biomethane market is growing, and its requirements are becoming more complex. RED III is being written into national law, and demand is arriving from new directions. Beyond shipping under FuelEU Maritime, gas suppliers face new green gas obligations, from France's biogas production certificates to the Dutch blending obligation planned for 2027 and Germany's planned green gas quota for heating, while SBTi's new net-zero standard opens a pathway for certificate-based corporate claims. Fossil gas, meanwhile, has delivered two price shocks in four years, from the 2022 crisis to this year's supply disruptions, which makes domestically produced biomethane a question of supply security as well. At the same time, price formation remains opaque for many market participants. If you trade, source or develop biomethane projects, you need to keep an eye on two things: the regulatory rules that determine the value and eligibility of every molecule, and the market data that shows what that value actually is right now.
That is exactly where our one-day, in-person seminar in London comes in, offered in collaboration with ICIS. agriportance brings hands-on experience from certification support, CI-Scores and mass balancing, and biomethane trading. As a global provider of commodity market intelligence, ICIS contributes its perspective on prices, market movements and its new biomethane price reporting, launching in autumn 2026.
Rather than a series of lectures, we focus on a small group, concrete case studies and genuine exchange. Our previous seminars have shown that the most valuable insights often emerge when participants discuss real prices, data points and practical cases together.
Seminar Content:
- Biomethane market overview in Europe: supply, demand and the key drivers in Germany, the UK and other core markets. Also different market regions like AIB and ERGaR.
- Price formation and market transparency: how biomethane prices are made up and which factors determine them (feedstock, CI-Score, eligibility, target market)
- Live demo of the new ICIS biomethane platform: prices, data points and analysis in practice
- Regulation put to the test: current cases from RED III, national quota schemes such as the German GHG quota (THG-Quote) and the UK RTFO, and FuelEU Maritime, and what they mean for trading and procurement
- Evidence and mass balance: what matters for proofs of sustainability, the Union Database and cross-border supply chains
- Outlook 2027: the developments market participants should have on their radar now
- Open discussion & Q&A session

Who should attend?
The seminar is aimed at biomethane traders and buyers, energy suppliers and larger energy companies, compliance and sustainability managers, and project developers and their analysts. A basic knowledge of the biomethane market is helpful, but the seminar is designed so that participants with less experience in individual topics can easily follow along.
